Ben was the latest contestant to feel the full weight of Sir Alan’s finger in the boardroom last night, as the grizzled boss uttered the immortal “You’re fired” at the wannabe Apprentice.
On BBC One at 9pm, The Apprentice had a peak of 8.7 million viewers (a 36% share of the audience), miles ahead of ITV1’s Midsomer Murders‘ peak of 3.6 million.
An average of 8.5 million viewers stuck with BBC One for the entire programme, which saw the contestants trying to sell products at the UK’s biggest baby show.
On BBC Two at 9pm was Why Poetry Matters, although it clearly didn’t matter to many viewers, picking up a peak of just 937,000.
ITV1’s repeat of Midsomer Murders had an average audience of 3.6 million viewers – a 15.9% share of the audience.
