AOL Europe Appoints New President And COO

AOL has appointed Phillip Rowley to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer of its European operations.
Rowley, formerly AOL Europe’s chief financial officer, will oversee the company’s corporate and operational functions in the UK, France and Germany. He will report to Michael Lynton, president of AOL Time Warner International and CEO of AOL Europe.
Lynton said: “Phillip has worked with me and our senior management team to increase the efficiency of our operations and set a course for the future. I look forward to him taking an even grater role in the day-to-day implementation of our business plan, allowing me to focus more on long-term strategic issues.”
Rowley added: “Our main objective for the near-term is further to boost the value of our business to AOL Time Warner and its shareholders as we increase member revenues, build the interactive marketing and e-commerce businesses in Europe.”
Prior to joining AOL, Rowley was deputy CEO and finance director at retail business, Kingfisher. He has also spent much of career at EMI Music and has held a number of senior roles at THORN EMI Screen Entertainment.
Earlier this week, AOL Time Warner appointed Michael J. Kelly as its new president of global marketing solutions, with responsibility for developing and implementing cross-platform marketing solutions across its portfolio of products (see AOL Appoints New President Of Global Marketing Solutions).
