AOL Secures Marketing Deal With Lloyds TSB

AOL has signed a strategic marketing agreement with Lloyds TSB to promote the bank’s insurance services across its UK portfolio of sites.

The deal, which is intended to increase awareness of the Lloyds TSB Insurance brand, will see targeted promotions run across AOL’s Your Money, House and Home and Travel channels. Special insurance quote engines will be incorporated into AOL’s subscription service and links to the Lloyds TSB Insurance website will appear on the AOL homepage.

Chief financial officer of AOL Europe, Philip Rowley, said: “Marketing alliances with strong industry leaders ensure that we are making the best and most trusted online information available to our members. AOL members now have up to the minute Lloyds TSB Insurance quotes available to help them make sound decisions about insurance and money matters.”

Last week Yahoo announced plans to close five of its European auction services and promote those of rival company EBay (see Yahoo Closes European Auction Sites). The search engine, which has been hard hit by the advertising downturn, will continue to operate its own auction sites in Denmark, Sweden and Norway, where its market position is stronger.
