API TV Wins Women’s Golf Coverage
API Television (formally known as Grand Slam Sports) has been appointed to produce television coverage of the American Express women’s golf European Tour 1996 for a third year.
The contract includes highlights of 15 events for the tour including live coverage of the Hennessey Cup in Cologne. API will commence filming on 2 May with The Welsh Open from St Pierre and will finish five months later with The Spanish Open at La Manga on October 27th.
The highlights will be broadcast world-wide with Sky Sports showing the event in the UK. John Watts, Head of Production at API, believes that the Tour is “set to become a major event in the golfing calendar over the next few years. In 1995 live television coverage of the Tour increased by 100% and there was 115% increase in television highlights coverage…It is a sign of how much the Women’s Professional Golfers’ European Tour (WPGET) has developed in the past two years.”
