Bad Girls, which according to press speculation may be axed by ITV, showed that it has some signs of life by comfortably winning its slot.
The prison drama show attracted a peak of 4.6 million adult viewers (a 24.8% audience share) yesterday evening, with an average audience of 4.3 million adults (a 22.7% audience share) for the duration of the show.
Buoyed by the strong lead-in programme, Love Island pulled in its highest viewing figures for the series to date. Last night’s edition of the reality tv show attracted a peak adult audience of 3.2 million (a 17.9% audience share) and an average audience of 3.1 million adults (a 16.9% audience share). This beats the opening night addition of the show, which had just under 3 million adult viewers.
Overall ITV1 was the most watched channel last night, with Emmerdale and The Bill pulling in the viewers. The Yorkshire Dales soap attracted an average of 6.6 million adults (a 42.3% audience share), while the London police drama serial had an average adult audience of 4.6 million (a 24.9% audience share).
BBC1 did enjoy success with Eastenders, which attracted nearly 44% share. Elsewhere the repeat showing of the blockbuster film Armageddon attracted an average of 3.1 adults (a 16.5% audience share) between 9pm and 10pm and 2.88 million (a 24.6% audience share) after the BBC News.
Meanwhile, Five’s coverage of Newcastle United securing safe passage into the first round proper of the UEFA Cup attacted respectable audience figures. The 0-0 bore draw attracted a peak adult audience of 2.2 million during the closing 15 minutes.
