Bauer Media could relaunch The Face

The Face Magazine Style magazine The Face could make a comeback five years after it closed.

Bauer Media’s chief executive Paul Keenan and men’s division managing director Geoff Campbell have enlisted Anthony Noguera, former editor of FHM, to oversee plans to launch the title, according to reports.

Bauer is looking at how to relaunch the magazine, with options including a digital-only title, a free magazine or as subscription-only, said a report in Media Week.

Emap closed The Face in April 2004 after failing to find a buyer.

It said it had received a number of approaches for the title but none had developed into a bid that could prevent its closure almost 25 years after launching (see Emap Closes Face After Failing To Find Buyer).

The magazine is understood to have incurred heavy loses in the year before it was shut-down as circulation dipped to just over the 40,000 mark, down from a peak of 113,000 in the mid-nineties.
