Bauer Media launches Country Hits Radio

Bauer Media has announced that it will be launching the UK’s first national country music station, Country Hits Radio – the third station launched by the radio broadcaster since the start of 2019.

The station, set to hit the airwaves on April 5, will form part of the Hits Radio Network alongside Hits Radio and Greatest Hits Radio.

“Country Hits Radio is a unique station which is an exciting development from the Hits Radio Network building on our recent launch of the Greatest Hits Network,” said Graham Bryce, group managing director for Hits Radio and Greatest Hits Networks.

“Our insight tells us that this unique and valuable 25-44 year old music loving audience, love country music and live experiences, and we feel there is a wealth of opportunity around this station as it’s the first of its kind to realise the demand for this fast-growing genre.”

According to Bauer, singles sales in the contemporary country music genre are up over 31% in the last six years.

Country Hits Radio’s daily weekday show will be hosted by former BBC radio presenter Baylen Leonard, with Nashville’s Ty Bentli and The Saturdays’ Una Healy also joining the lineup.

Bauer’s new classical radio show, Scala Radio, launched earlier this month, while Greatest Hits Radio launched in January this year.
