BBC Annual Report

Speaking at the launch of the BBC’s Annual Report John Birt stated that 1994/5 had, for the BBC, been a year of ‘exceptional programme achievement.”The BBC is alive with creativity. We are listening and responding to our audiences.’
The report highlights:
* 4/5 peak time programmes on BBC1 and BBC2 were new progs made by the BBC
* There were 300 hours fewer given over to repeats.
* A typical home tunes into BBC TV and Radio for 44 hours 24 minutes per week
* The BBC’s international TV channels are now available to over 40 million homes around the world – nearly double last year’s figure.
* Commercial activities in the newly formed BBC Worldwide returned record revenues, up 19% to £305m.
