BBC Appoints New Director Of Television

The BBC has appointed Jana Bennett as its new director of television with a brief to oversee output across BBC1, BBC2 and the new digital channels, BBC3 and BBC4.

The BBC, which is in the process of launching its new digital services, is currently having its revised proposal for BBC3, its digital channel aimed at 16-35 year-olds, scrutinised by the DCMS, which rejected the original idea for the channel last September (see Government Says No To BBC3).
