BBC CHILDREN’S SCHEDULE
Anna Home, Head of BBC Television Children’s Programmes, today announced the details of children’s programmes for the next year. The £59m package places emphasis on quality programmes.
There is a new Sunday teatime drama called Smokescreen, starring Anita Dobson, Paula Wilcox and Joan Sims. There is also a new series of The Borrowers, starring Daniel Newman.
Live and Kicking is the new Saturday morning magazine show, to replace Going Live! and Blue Peter celebrates its 35th birthday.
Other drama includes a series calledThe Boot Street Band from BAFTA award-winning writer Andrew Davies, as well as the return of Grange Hill and Byker Grove.
The Really Wild Show is back as part of the Sunday line-up on BBC2. Also on Sundays will be Futurecooks, and Check It Out, a consumer series. Other favourites such as Hartbeat with Tony Hart return, as does Newsround.
