BBC Criticised For Use Of Advertising
The BBC has been criticised over its use of licence fee revenue for advertising to promote its radio and TV services. The corporation was challenged in the House of Commons earlier this week by a back bench Conservative MP who suggested such advertising was more appropriate for the commercial sector. As a result the National Heritage Secretary, Peter Brooke, is to raise the matter with BBC Chairman Marmaduke Hussey
Clive Jones, currently managing director of London News Network, has been appointed as managing director of Central Independent Television. His responsibilities will include the programme making division Central Productions and the regional transmission and programme division Central Broadcasting.
