The BBC has secured FMCG giant Masterfoods as the sole advertiser in forthcoming cookery magazine, Easy Food, the third title in BBC Worldwide’s “Easy” range.
The new magazine, targeting those wanting straight forward advice and inspiration for simple meals, will feature display ads, advertorials and editorial from pasta masters Dolmio, making the brand the only advertiser to feature in the first issue.
The magazine will have a cover price of £1.99 and a print run of 120,000. The first issue of Easy Food will hit the shelves on 16 June and will sit along stablemates Easy Gardening and Easy Decorating.
Food expert Sara Buenfeld has been appointed as the magazine’s editor and has previously held positions as food editor of Woman & Home and Living. She is also the author of several food books.
Commenting on the launch Nicki Hill, BBC Worldwide’s food group publisher, said: “BBC Easy Food is the perfect addition to our portfolio and is set to be one of the most important food launches this year. This is also a tremendous time for BBC Good Food and olive and it’s a real pleasure to get such positive support from a huge set of readers.”
The launch comes at a time when the BBC’s other food magazines are doing well, BBC Good Food magazine recently celebrated a total of 100,000 subscribers, while Good Food and olive have both received nominations for the prestigious Glenfiddich food and drink awards. The magazines are the only newsstand food magazines in the nominations.
Good Food is the BBC’s flagship food title and has seen good performance recently. In the six months to December 2003 the magazine added 5.6% to its circulation, pushing its monthly reach to nearly 350,000.
