The first of the BBC’s annual performance reviews, which takes place over the next 3 days, will examine every aspect of the corporation. Director general John Birt will present a formal assessment of the BBC’s programme output, efficiency, effectiveness and accountability. An annual report will be published at the end of July.
FINANCE CHIEF REJOINS BBC
The BBC confirmed at the weekend that Ian Phillips, its former finance director, has rejoined the corporation. He resigned last December following controversy over the corporation’s budget overspend.
