BBC Investigates Ad Claims

The BBC has launched an investigation into claims by The Sunday Times that a company acting on its behalf has been selling advertising spots for broadcast during coverage of Last Night of the Proms.

According to the allegations Profile Pursuit, an agency which has previously handled BBC promotions, were offering four to five minutes of airtime in which company’s logos would be shown. If this were the case it would be a serious breach of the BBC’s guidelines which strictly prohibits raising money through advertising or sponsorship. Profile Pursuit had no comment to make regarding this matter, though the BBC is taking the allegations seriously.

…BBC Worldwide denied this morning weekend press reports that it had secured a deal with Flextech regarding the launch of a pay-TV service.
