BBC Is Set To Launch Six News Channels On YouTube

BBC The BBC plans to launch six new video channels on YouTube for its Global News service by the end of the year.

The channels, which are set to feature clips in a number of languages, including Spanish, Arabic and Urdu, will add to the BBC’s existing World News channel on the video sharing site, according to reports.

It is the first multi-language deal by a major international broadcaster and YouTube, with news stories that are specifically tailored for each individual audience.

Jim Egan, director of strategy and business development at BBC Global News, said: “This deal reflects BBC Global News’ determination to reach and engage with audiences across the world in unique and pioneering ways.”

Patrick Walker, director of video partnerships for YouTube Europe, Middle East and Africa, added: “By bringing top quality news content to the YouTube community in many languages, the BBC is taking an innovative step to engage with this large and diverse audience.”

The news channels follow the launch of dedicated Top Gear and Eastenders channels on the online video service.
