BBC Launches £249m Spring And Summer Season

The BBC yesterday announced that it will be spending £249 million on its new spring and summer schedule. Highlights include new Dennis Potter drama (screened jointly with Channel 4), a new version of Doctor Who and coverage of football’s Euro ’96.

There will also be a new epic ten-part series, No Bananas, which follows the fortunes of two families across the class divide which stars Stephanie Beacham and Alison Steadman. Amanda Redman searches for missing persons in Beck and there are new series for Bugs, Cardiac Arrest, Men Behaving Badly, Small Talk and Pets Win Prizes.

Factual highlights include Defence Of The Realm which sees the MoD opening previously locked doors and Secrets of the Paranormal which explores X Files- type phenomena.

As well as Euro ’96 there will also be coverage of the Atlanta Olympics, Wimbledon and the 125th Open Golf Championship.
