The BBC is launching vodcasts (video podcasts) of the Ten O’Clock News and Newsnight for viewers to watch on the move as part of a 12-month trial.
Viewers are now able to download Ten Weekly, the best of the week’s Ten O’Clock News packages, as well as subscribe to top Newsnight reports and investigations.
In the first phase of the trial, a tongue-in-cheek look at the week’s news on the BBC called STORYFix will also be available.
Ten Weekly will be available every Wednesday; STORYFix and Newsnight will be published on a Friday evening. Later in the year, the trial continues with the addition of the highlights from each week’s Question Time and a new daily news briefing aimed at the morning commuter.
Adrian Van Klaveren, deputy director of BBC News, said: “This trial aims to give people a range of great BBC News content that they can enjoy watching in a completely different way on new portable devices.
“We view video podcasting as a convenient way for our audiences to consume BBC News content at a time and place of their choosing – both established programmes such as the Ten and Newsnight but also content they may not have come across such as STORYFix.”
