BBC May Launch Education Service
Bob Phillis, deputy director-general of the BBC, speaking yesterday at the FT Cable and Satellite and New Media Conference, said that the BBC is investigating the possibility of launching an international education and learning multi-media service. The BBC is currently looking into the idea with potential partners as part of its commitment to the future multi-media marketplace. Bob Phillis said, “We have identified a need for such a service”. Likely partners would include Pearson, with whom the BBC has already launched two satellite channels. Other likely partners could be the Open University and the British Council.
