BBC News Radio – Decision Monday
The BBC will decide on Monday whether to go ahead with the planned 24-hour radio news service.
It is expected that the intention of using Radio 4’s long wave frequency for the service will be dropped. An alternative is believed to be a combined news and sports service on Radio 5 and a delay in deciding until new digital technology removes the scarcity of frequencies.
Although the governors are expected to make an immediate decision, it could be delayed until their regular monthly meeting on October 21.
