The BBC is to launch a new popular news and current affairs programme in February. The programme, with the title Here and Now, will begin as a six week long experiment aimed at an audience not currently served by the present news, which concentrates on ABC1 viewers from the South East.
Here and Now should attract a younger non-metropolitan audience, deliberately embracing the regions.
The programme will launch on 16 February at 7.30pm, in competition with ITV’s Coronation Street.
