BBC Political Neutrality Supported

CIA research into public opinion of the BBC and political neutrality has shown that the viewers agree with Heritage Secretary, Virginia Bottomley that theBBC’s next charter should include a legally binding clause to remain politically neutral on all subjects. Seven out of ten people (72%) agree that this would be good, 15% disagree with the idea and 13% are indifferent or undecided.

Among 15-24 year olds, 64% agree and 11% disagree. In contrast, 80% of respondents aged 45-54 believe that a legally binding political neutrality clause for the BBC would be beneficial.
