BBC Services To Launch First On Sky Digital
BSkyB today announced that the BBC’s digital network services will be available on the Sky Digital satellite platform.
Initially four digital services from the BBC will be offered to Sky Digital customers for free. These will be BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Choice (a new service with “a range of extended and additional programmes, information and graphics; plus enhanced regional and educational elements”) and BBC News 24.
The BBC then expects to launch further services including BBC Learning and a digital text service. These will also be free when they arrive.
The deal will also bring BBC Radio services to Sky Digital, offering BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio FIve Live in digital stereo.
Sky says that negotiations are in progress with other terrestrial broadcasters to carry their services on Sky Digital
