BBC Strike Tomorrow Called Off
BBC Unions have agreed to withdraw plans for a strike tomorrow, as BBC unions and management meet today for talks at the ACAS conciliation service. However, the NUJ and BECTU unions have not yet withdrawn plans for further one-day strikes next week.
Yorkshire Tyne Tees Television has proposed an alliance with Thames Television to make programmes. YTTV is also linking up with advertisers to make programmes; The Wanderer, which was 80% financed by Procter & Gamble, and turned down by the Network Centre, has instead been sold to Sky Television. Increasing programme production, particularly for new markets outside the ITV network, is one of the strategies being pursued.
