BBC to broadcast 2009 Wimbledon Championships live in HD

BBC Logo For the first time, the entire BBC coverage of the Wimbledon tennis championships will be available in high definition on the BBC HD channel.

As well as coverage on BBC One, BBC Two and the BBC HD channel, the championships will be available via live streaming on BBC Online and live text commentaries on its mobile service.

BBC Red Button will offer a choice of up to five live matches, plus a highlights service and replays of the top matches. Viewers will also be able to switch between commentary and no-commentary options on live matches.

BBC iPlayer will be offering between two and four full matches every day of the tournament. Women’s matches will be shown in their entirety and Men’s matches will be broken into sets. Today At Wimbledon will also be available on demand from BBC iPlayer.
