The BBC is considering creating a range of international satellite television channels using its archives.
Following last week’s confirmation that the licence fee will be linked to inflation, the corporation is set to maximise its earnings. According to Bob Phillis, BBC deputy director-general, the main opportunities lie in creating thematic channels in areas such as entertainment education and factual programming.
