BBC Unveils New Daytime Schedule
The BBC will launch its new daytime schedule on Monday 2nd September. Alan Yentob unveiled a package which includes programmes reflecting leisure, lifestyle and consumer interests, topical issues and entertainment.
Programmes include Breakfast News Extra with Juliet Morris; The Terrace, a DIY show presented by Mike Reid; cookery with Nick Nairn in Who’ll Do The Pudding; The Weather Show with Bill Giles and consumer and showbiz slots.
Shows which will return include Kilroy, Incognito and Can’t Cook Won’t Cook. The schedule will run from 9am till 3.30pm on BBC1 and continues on BBC2 from 4pm.
ITV will also revamp its daytime schedule, which will include that start of a three-times-a-week live afternoon magazine show structured around the Vanessa chat show, in the New Year.
…The BBC is also understood to be in talks with BSkyB regarding the possible launch of eight new subscription-based channels for BBC Worldwide, the corporation’s commercial arm. It was revealed earlier this week that the BBC was in similar discussions with Flextech *BBC And Flextech In Possible Joint Venture. No details have emerged from these “preliminary talks” as yet.
