BBC Wants Monthly RAJAR Data
BBC Radio is proposing to introduce changes to the radio industry’s audience research system, RAJAR, to get listening figures for national radio stations published on a monthly basis. Michael Green, Radio 4 controller, will put the plans forward at RAJAR’s next board meeting, this month. National and London station’s data is currently released quarterly, with local stations reporting either every six or twelve months.
Unconfirmed reports claim that the BBC’s new national radio network Radio Five Live, has been more successful than its predecessor Radio 5, claiming a record weekly reach of more than five million. The most recent Rajar data gave Radio 5 an average weekly reach of 4.3 million.
