BBC Worldwide Unveils New Children’s Magazines

BBC Worldwide is launching two new monthly magazines, Disney Girl and Disney Comic, for children aged between seven and nine and is to promote both titles with a six-figure marketing campaign.

The magazines, both of which include posters, puzzles and cartoon strips, will be unveiled on 24 April along with a consumer advertising campaign designed to raise awareness of BBC Worldwide’s new Disney portfolio, which includes the recently acquired Disney’s Big Time and a new title due for launch in the autumn.

Publisher, Toni Round, said: “With the launch of Disney Girl and Disney Comic we are creating a new Disney pre-teen category at retail. The combination of BBC Magazine’s expertise in the pre-teen market and Disney’s massive popularity with this age group, is a formidable one.”

Earlier in the week BBC Worldwide, which is the UK’s biggest publisher of children’s titles, launched It’s Hot into the teenage sector (see BBC Worldwide Prepares For Teen Title Launch) to replace its recently closed Live & Kicking magazine (see BBC’s Live & Kicking Gives Up The Fight).
