BBC1 Controller Appointed

Peter Salmon, Granada Television’s director of programmes, has been named as BBC1’s new controller. He replaces Michael Jackson who left the corporation this year to become chief executive of Channel 4.

As well as taking charge of the Coronation Street rejuvenation Mr Salmon was also responsible for programmes such as Moll Flanders and Hillsborough.
