BDB Will Have To Retune Television Sets
In order to fully implement digital terrestrial broadcasting (DTT) some television sets will have to be retuned to prevent clashes between the analogue and digital signals.
British Digital Broadcasting, who were granted the contract to broadcast DTT from the ITC in June, will have to retune what they describe as a very small number of homes, although they would not give exact figures or locations. It has been reported that the cost of this retuning may be around £20m.
Despite the fact that a BDB spokesman said this was not a new problem and had been laid out in proposals from the start, there has been very little mention of the retuning publicly. The group maintains that the programme will be nothing of the scale of Channel 5 retuning and is a minor problem.
