Beeb.com Sets Sights On Expansion

The BBC’s commercial e-commerce site, www.beeb.com is planning further expansion. BBC Worldwide has announced a series of appointments and says it is close to finding a joint venture partner to inject capital into both beeb.com and beeb.net, the company’s free to access ISP (see Beeb.com Minority Stake May Go To Flextech Or NTL).

Jeanette Angell has been appointed product development director for beeb.com, and will oversee the production perspective of running the site, including responsibility for new platforms and products such as interactive TV, handheld devices and mobile phones. The job of head of design has gone to Sav Angelou, who will develop the look, feel and functionality of the site and shopping guides. Adrian Pegg has become editorial director and will oversee the day-to-day running of the shopping guides.

Meanwhile the business development team has gained a business development manager for beeb.com in the form of Simon Nunan, who was previously head of finance at BBC Education. He will be joined by Paul Wilson, who has come from Metro Goldwyn Mayer’s UK home entertainment division to take up the role of business development executive.
