Bertelsmann Chief To Present Worldview At GEITF
Thomas Middelhoff, the chairman and chief executive of Bertelsmann AG, is to close this year’s Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival (GEITF), delivering the Worldview Address on 25 August.
GEITF advisory chair 2002, Tiger Aspect Productions’ joint MD Charles Brand, commented: “While the industry speculate on which US major will buy ITV, and when Rupert Murdoch will buy Channel 5- it’s more than time to hear a European perspective from the chief exec of the Bertelsmann group, which is already a major player in both the broadcasting and production sector.”
This will be the first time that Middelhoff has addressed a major industry event in the UK, having been appointed to his position at Bertelsmann, the world’s fourth largest media company, in 1998. He will give his perspective on the future broadcasting landscape.
