Bidders For FT Newsletters Emerge

Potential bidders for the Financial Times Newsletters division have begun to emerge. The most likely suitors expected to make a bid for the group next Tuesday are Informa and Euromoney with Emap, Metal Bulletin and Wilmington Press also rumoured to be interested.

Euromoney Publications, part of the Daily Mail & General Trust group, has plenty of experience in managing financial newsletters. Its titles include Euromoney and Global Investor. The Informa group is also in an ideal position to make a bid for the publications with its portfolio of newsletters and business publications including Lloyd’s List. The group has a warchest of £50 million.

The sale of the operation, which includes titles in the media, telecommunications, automotive, retail, pharmaceuticals and finance was announced last week (see Newsline Brief). Sister group, Financial Times is off-loading the division to concentrate its resources on magazine titles such as Investor’s Chronicle.
