Channel 4’s Big Brother was last night’s Reality TV winner, beating the launch episode of ITV1’s new series of Love Island and BBC One’s Only Fool’s On Horses.
BB managed to lure more than four million adult viewers (a 20% audience share) to its drunken snog-fest, whilst BBC One’s celebrity show jumping Sport Relief programme took a 19% audience share, grabbing 3.8 million adult viewers.
The first episode of the second series of ITV1’s Love Island, which sees desperate z-list celebs inhabit a palatial Fijian island resort, managed to attract 2.9 million adult viewers, or a 15% audience share.
Earlier in the evening ITV1 battled with BBC One. A massive eight million adults watched Coronation Street on ITV1 (a 45% viewing share), whilst Big Cat Week and Real Story drew 4.1 million (24%) and 2.8 million (15.6%) adult viewers respectively for BBC One.
Ant and Dec’s new game show, Pokerface, was no match for an 8pm Eastenders followed by DIY SOS on BBC One. ‘Stenders attracted 7.3 million adult viewers, a 39.6% audience share, followed by 5.2 million for DIY SOS. Ant and Dec’s new creation took a 23% viewing share, with 4.4 million adult viewers tuning in.
