Big Brother To Have Interactive Voting And Games

Details of additional interactive elements for this year’s Big Brother have been unveiled this week. Interactive voting and E-Victor, an interactive game, have been developed thanks to an agreement between the broadcaster, Channel 4, programme makers Endemol and Two Way TV.

Channel 4’s head of interactive television, Peter Good, commented, “With this year’s series we wanted to build on the cross platform success of Big Brother [see Big Brother Website Makes It Into August Top Ten] by adding new TV elements. This technology will allow viewers to experience the drama in a new way.”

NTL and Telewest digital cable viewers will be able to cast votes for evictions via their handsets. TV voting will cost 25p including a donation to charity, but other interactive options such as polls, votes, information and the E-Victor game will also be provided to attract viewers to interactivity.

E-Victor takes the form of a quiz about the latest events in the Big Brother household. By answering questions correctly and against the clock, players get to “evict” everyone in the house except themselves. Daily prizes will be offered for top scorers and the ultimate winner at the end of the series will get a tour of the real Big Brother house. Each time the game is played it will cost 60p.

Two Way TV’s interactive voting application will run on E4 on the NTL digital network round-the-clock for the duration of the series.
