Biggest Cinema Weekend Ever

Biggest Cinema Weekend Ever

In what is turning out to be an excellent year for cinema so far, this weekend saw cinema box office records broken again, with £7.7 million being taken across the Top 15 films; the previous record was for the weekend 5th-7th January this year, when £7.2 million was taken. Before that, the next highest taking weekend was back in 1993, with Jurassic Park.

This weekend’s success was down to the opening of several big films; Casino, Sense and Sensibility and Trainspotting; this, together with last week’s opening of Jumanji, and the continued box office success of films like Babe, Seven, Heat and Father of the Bride II, which are all still in the Top 15.
