The Mirror Group’s Live TV cable channel is expanding; its first affiliate, Birmingham Live TV will launch in the Autumn. Midland Independent Newspapers and Birmingham Cable Communications are launching the venture and the studios will be based at Midland Independent Newspapers’ Tower Block.
The station is planning to provide up to 80 minutes a day of local programming including news, travel, weather on the hour during the day, as well as rolling programming featuring Birmingham people produced in Birmingham. Birmingham Live will be recruiting its own journalists, technicians and advertising sales staff. Channel One, the Associated Newspapers London based cable channel has recently announced it is to expand into Bristol.
