Blunkett Drama Shines In Terrestrial Screening

A Very Social Secretary Channel 4’s high profile political drama, A Very Social Secretary, drew a peak of 1.98 million last night, securing a share of 9.75% for the broadcaster despite having aired a week earlier on the launch night of digital channel, More4.

The programme, chronicling former home secretary David Blunkett’s affair with Kimberly Quinn, publisher of The Spectator, notched up average viewing figures of 1.8 million, with an average share of 9.27%.

The BBC also performed well last night, with MI5 drama Spooks drawing a peak of 5.4 million in its final 15 minutes, as one of the central characters met a grisly end at the hands of kidnappers.

The programme outperformed all others in the 9-10pm slot, going head to head with ITV drama All About George, staring Rik Mayall, which peaked at 3.87 million between 9:15-9:30pm.
