BMRB Survey Shows England Attracts Women
According to research conducted by BMRB, 70% of women had seen at least one of England’s matches in Euro’96. As England progressed in the tournament with exciting performances, a large female following was generated. Only 14% of females saw the first game against Switzerland.
ITV’s coverage of the semi-final against Germany generated a larger female audience; 3 million females compared to 2.6 million males.
