Breakthrough Price Point For DAB

Breakthrough Price Point For DAB

A new affordable method of receiving digital radio is expected to go on sale this summer for under £100.

High Street chain TIME has confirmed it will begin selling Modular Technology’s DAB digital radio PCI cards, which allow PCs to receive digital radio, while the screen user interface gives access to full programme information and broadcast multimedia content and enables the user to record directly from a DAB digital radio station to the computer.

The CEO of Digital One, Quentin Howard, has welcomed the news: “For consumers DAB digital radio is about content, with exclusive new radio stations and exciting broadcast multimedia. And all that content is free to air, with no subscriptions. But the lack of cheap hardware in the high street has been holding us back. The Modular Technology product at the critical price point is a breakthrough.”

The UK launch of the PCI card will be in parallet with launches in Europe and Canada.
