Bristol Post Profits

The Bristol Evening Post regional newspaper group has increased pre-tax profits by 17% to £3.1m in the interim period to September 30.

Profits from newspapers and printing grew to £1.31m (£731,000), although circulations for the two main newspapers, Bristol Evening Post and the Western Daily Press remained depressed.

The imminence of the Budget and the possible imposition of VAT on newspapers made it difficult to foresee trends over the next six months.
