Britain Scores Against England

A Football Britain’s Got Talent topped the TV ratings again last night, beating England v USA on Match of the Day Live.

ITV’s third live semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent attracted 8.1 million adult viewers, ahead of BBC One’s Match of Day with only 6.5 million.

George Sampson bagged his place in Saturday’s final with his ‘Singing in the Rain’ routine – which took in the highest number of phone votes of the week so far – while Charlie Green was kicked out of the competition, despite being the judges favourite during auditions.

The England v USA friendly match at Wembley had a peak audience of more than seven million adult viewers before 9pm – England winning 2-0 with goals from Terry and Gerrard.

BBC Two’s new drama, Filth: The Mary Whitehouse Story – on from 9 to 10.30pm – was watched by 2.8 million adult viewers.

The last in the current series of Channel 4’s Desperate Housewives had a peak audience of more than 2 million adult viewers, a 10.9% viewing share.
