Britney’s X Factor triumphs with more than 12.6m viewers

The X Factor ITV1’s X Factor raced ahead of its BBC One rival Saturday night show Strictly Come Dancing this weekend with over 12.6 million peak viewers.

The Britney Spears special, which saw Ruth receive the least votes despite a tear-jerking performance, pulled in more than 11.8 million average viewers and a 46% audience share between 7.35pm and 9.15pm.

Britney’s performance in the later results show attracted over 10.7 million peak viewers and an impressive 50% audience share between 10.15pm and 10.45pm.

Meanwhile, Strictly‘s performance, minus John Sergeant, only pulled in 9.8 million viewers and a 41.6% audience share between 6.05pm and 7.35pm.

Lisa Snowdon and her dance partner Brendan Cole were on top form on Saturday, while Christine’s dances saw her exit the competition this weekend.

On Sunday, BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing results show attracted 9.6 million average viewers and a 33.6% audience share between 8.15pm and 9pm.

Elsewhere, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! picked up an impressive 9.9 million peak viewers on Saturday evening, in between the two X Factor shows.

However, the reality programme slipped down to 8.3 million peak viewers on Sunday evening, securing a 30.7% audience share for ITV1.
