Broadcasting Bill Nearing Completion

Broadcasting Bill Nearing Completion

The Broadcasting Bill successfully passed its second reading in the House of Commons last night. The final stage remaining is for the Bill to go to a Commons Committee where it will be discussed between officials and ministers. This process can take three to four weeks and should begin next Tuesday.

Last night Labour had tried to relax planned restrictions on newspapers’ holdings in broadcasting companies but this was defeated by thirty votes.
