Brookside Sex Causes Complaint

Brookside Sex Causes Complaint

Viewers complained about a scene in Brookside in which a young unmarried girl admitted to having sexual intercourse and to attending a clinic to obtain a morning-after pill. The complaint, reported in the Broadcasting Standards Council Complaints Bulletin, was not upheld because the girl’s growing sexual awareness was a recurrent theme in the soap.

There were also complaints made against New Baywatch for the opening sequence which shows Pamela Anderson running along a beach, which was regarded by some as inappropriate for family viewing. The X Files received complaints regarding its ‘horrific’ scenes and Four Weddings And A Funeral caused offence through repeated swearing in the opening sequence. None of these complaints were upheld.
