Bruno Tyson Fight Is First Pay-Per-View TV

BSkyB has announced that Frank Bruno’s world heavyweight title defence against Mike Tyson will be viewed only on a pay-per-view basis. Subscribers will have to pay £9.95 to see the fight live (at 0200 on Sunday 17 March) and the replay at 0900 in the first ever instance of pay-per-view TV.
The live UK rights to the fight were made available by Don King Productions only on pay-per-view basis. Sky TV will begin to take bookings for the event on Friday 1 March using an automated telephone service.
Don King had said that if Sky had not co-operated he would have screened the fight exclusively in clubs and cinemas. David Chance, Deputy Managing Director of Sky TV, said: “We are pleased that Sky is able to give viewers the chance to see an event that otherwise would not have been available live at home.”
