BSkyB Chief Dies After Short Illness

The chief financial officer of BSkyB, Nick Carrington, died suddenly last Friday after a short illness. He was aged 47, and had worked at BSkyB since 1995 (as well as from 1989 to 1991), and joined the main board at the beginning of the year.

This could cause further personnel upheavals at a time when Sky is readying for the launch of digital satellite television; a number of top figures have left BSkyB in the wake of the departure of chief executive Sam Chisholm who left in November last year.

BSkyB’s chief executive Mark Booth said: “Nick had an incredible knowledge of BSkyB and was a strong presence during two key periods in the company’s history. He will be very much missed by all of us.”
