BSkyB Claims Pay-Per-View Success
BSkyB has said that more than 600,000 homes watched the pay-per-view coverage of the Bruno vs Tyson fight on Sunday morning.
This means that more than 14% of BSkyB’s subscribers paid £9.95 to see the fight in Britain’s first ever pay-per-view event. Recent Tyson fights in the US have not exceeded 6% of the subscriber base. Final figures and viewing analysis will become available later this week when figures from cable companies and out of home viewing will become available.
David Chance, Deputy Managing Director of BSkyB, said: “This has exceeded all expectations and demonstrated there is an appetite for genuine value for money events. This is not to say that Sky is suddenly going to get heavily involved in pay-per-view. We had no choice with this fight, but we are delighted that it was such a success.
