BSkyB Profits Soar 66%

BSkyB today announced financial figures for the year ending 30 June which show pre-tax profit rising by 66% to £257m.

The satellite company’s subscribers rose by 900,000 to 5.5 million and advertising also saw a healthy growth. Subscriber revenue, which rose 25% to £727m, accounted for nearly three quarters of total revenue which hit £1.01bn.

Compared to most other TV companies, BSkyB’s profits are massive, though the profit increases in the TV sector are relatively similar: Yorkshire TV for example reported final pre-tax profits of £21.6m *Yorkshire TV Profits Soar, with revenue reaching £261.8m, while HTV’s profits for the year reached £12.1m *HTV Profits Up 66% To £12.1 Million.
