US cable network AMC, the broadcaster of shows including Breaking Bad and Mad Men, is to exclusively launch on BT this September, making it accessible to UK audiences for the first time.
The multi-year agreement will launch with the premier of Fear the Walking Dead on BT TV, with other series and films from AMC Networks to be announced in due course.
AMC’s arrival in the UK is the latest move in the company’s international expansion since launching for the first time outside North America late last year.
It is currently available on subscription television platforms in more than 125 countries and territories across Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, and will sit alongside the likes of Netflix and Sky Sports 1&2 when it arrives on BT TV in a few months’ time.
“AMC has become synonymous with bold, dramatic original programming of the highest quality,” said Ed Carroll, COO of AMC Networks.
“We’re excited to partner with BT to launch AMC for the first time in the UK. This agreement highlights the strong demand for our channels and will enable us to continue developing a far-reaching platform for AMC’s original programming.”
Earlier this month, BT also announced that it is to show all 351 matches from the UEFA Champions League and Europa League next season for free for customers who take BT TV.
